02_ How we make them

Premium materials, Advanced manufacturing, Zero-defect quality

Meet the team

MSS International combines ETP copper alloys with optional silver or tin plating, in-house CNC machining, precision spring assembly, and advanced plating processes to produce assemblies that meet the exact dimensional, electrical, and mechanical requirements of each customer specification.

Engineering collaboration

MSS works with customers at the earliest stages of product development, offering design-for-manufacture input and advanced simulation tools for thermal and electrical resistance analysis. Assembly designs are optimised for performance and consistency before production begins.

Premium materials

ETP (Electrolytic Tough Pitch) copper alloys are selected for their conductivity and mechanical properties appropriate to each application. Silver or tin plating is applied where corrosion resistance or contact performance demands it. Our proprietary plating processes deliver superior protection against oxidation and wear, extending component lifespan in harsh environments.

Precision manufacturing

Our in-house capabilities include CNC machining, precision spring assembly, and advanced plating, enabling us to produce and integrate all key components within our own quality system. Semi-automated assembly lines deliver the consistency required for high-volume production.

Stringent quality assurance

Assemblies undergo rigorous inspection including stress testing, torque checks, dimensional verification, and dielectric strength testing. Assemblies are engraved with unique part numbers for full traceability from raw materials to final delivery.

DC Disconnector Assembly programme

A customer manufacturing disconnector assemblies in-house transferred production to MSS. We took ownership of design, development, and material sourcing and supplied 15,000 units meeting all technical requirements at lower cost and faster lead time. 13% savings for the customer, with 5 weeks of working capital released.

60,000 Tulip Assemblies in one year

A customer previously producing tulip assemblies in-house transferred the programme to MSS. We took ownership of the supply chain from vetting sub-contractors through to testing and quality assurance of finished products. The result: 11% cost saving for the customer and 5 weeks of working capital released.

01 / Frequently asked questions

Can MSS support both prototype and high-volume production?

Yes. We support customers from initial prototype and design confirmation through to high-volume production supply, with consistent quality standards at every stage.

How does MSS ensure assembly quality?

Assemblies undergo rigorous inspection including dimensional verification, torque checks, stress testing, and dielectric strength testing. All assemblies are engraved with a unique identifier for full traceability from raw material to final delivery.

What electrical contact assembly types does MSS produce?

We produce contact fingers, tulip cluster contacts, DC disconnectors, DC busbar systems, and DC switches and isolators. Each is available in a range of configurations and current ratings.

What industries do MSS assemblies serve?

Our assemblies serve switchgear and circuit breaker manufacturers, green hydrogen electrolyser producers, renewable energy and power storage, industrial and electric mobility, and networks and data centre power distribution.

What materials are used in MSS assemblies?

We use ETP copper alloys as the primary conductor material, with optional silver or tin plating applied using our proprietary plating processes. Insulation components are selected to the specific dielectric and thermal requirements of each assembly.
